An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, reduces excess skin and fat between the underarm and the elbow, reshapes your arm to result in smoother skin and contours, and results in a more toned and proportionate appearance. After significant weight loss or aging, people often feel self-conscious about the appearance of their upper arms. Patients commonly state that they are dissatisfied with either their large arm size, or excess loose skin on the arms. An arm-lift can correct these conditions by giving the arms a more appealing shape and feel. Most commonly the removal of skin also involves the upper lateral chest wall to remove hanging skin beyond the underarms. Dr. Lucas also normally combines these procedures with a breast lift at the same time and he refers to this as a upper body lift.
The arm lift and or breast lifts are usually outpatient procedures as well. Recovery to normal activities is generally relatively quick.

These pictures demonstrate the excess skin which is removed after massive weight loss as an outpatient. The scars are placed in the inner aspect of the arms and arm pits minimizing the appearance of the visibility of the scars.
